Animated Ginger YouTube Channel

Why Pokemon HAD to Replace Ash Ketchum with Liko!

When I'm not programming or working on games, I'm usually creating content for my YouTube channel Animated Ginger. This channel focuses on the past, present, and future of the Pokémon anime. Aside from managing the channel, I write and edit videos as well as create thumbnails. I also create more frequent short form content, which is posted across YouTube, Tiktok, and Instagram, with shorts frequently garnering tens of thousands of views. The channel is currently monetized through Google AdSense and has amassed over 50,000 subscribers and 25 million total views.

I started the channel when I was fifteen years old, and I'm very grateful for how much support it has received over the years. I've learned so much on this journey from professional video editing to being able to utilize my analytic data to create even better content! The skills I had acquired have even managed to help me on my game development journey, such as creating the PAX East 2023 trailer for "Hellfire Hair".

We Found the LOST Banned Pokemon Episodes!

When I started Animated Ginger, the focus was on the past and present of the Pokémon anime's stories and characters. While I continue to make this style of content (mostly in short form), I realized there were two main topics I liked talking about the most. The first of these is Pokémon as it exists in Japan. The vast majority of my viewers are English speakers from the Western world, and are only familiar with Pokémon as it is localized for their demographic. I like to use my videos to educate on how Pokémon may be different in its home country compared to the version western fans know, and elements that were changed while localizing.

The other topic I've become fascinated with is the actual production of the show itself. Often the real-life stories about a piece of media's creation can be just as or more interesting than the media itself. Pokémon has had a rich history with over two decades of production on the show, and I want to help longtime fans learn more about just what went into the creation of their favorite series.
